1. What happens to the solar power generation during monsoon or on cloudy or no-sunshine days?

Though solar power generation comes down on cloudy days, the solar products are designed in such a way that they work even during cloudy days.
A Solar system is designed based on the historic data of sun shine in a full year. The worst months of solar insulation are taken as the basis for designing solar systems

2. How much does it cost to solar power my house/my office?

3. What is difference between Photo Voltaic & Photo Thermal?
Solar Photovoltaic is a method of generating electrical power by converting sun light into direct current electricity. Photovoltaic power generation employs solar panels made up of number of cells containing a photovoltaic material.
Solar Thermal Energy is a method of converting sun light into concentrated thermal energy i.e.heat. Solar thermal collectors are classified as low-, medium-, or high-temperature collectors.
• Low temperature collectors are flat plates generally used to heat swimming pools.
• Medium-temperature collectors are also usually flat plates but are used for heating water or air for residential and commercial use.
• High temperature collectors concentrate sunlight using mirrors or lenses and are generally used for electric power production.

4. Is power generated from solar panels DC or AC electricity?
The current generated by Solar panels is DC unit and can be converted to AC if the applications require so.

5. How can the solar panels, which are installed in outdoor, be protected from theft / vandalism / rain / dust /?
Protection from Rain / Dust / Natural elements: Solar panels are hermitically sealed and hence are weather proof. Rain or dust cannot damage the solar panels and hence have a long life of over 20 years. The solar panels, however need to be cleaned of dust periodically, which will enable better sunlight to fall on the solar cells for optimum power generation.
Protection from theft / vandalism: Necessary precaution can be taken by use of iron grills, sensors etc, installation at secure location.

6. How much space is required for installing solar systems?
Smaller applications like lanterns, outdoor lights, home lighting systems will require area upto maximum 20 square foot on rooftop. For larger applications like solar pumps, solar power packs or power plants the average area of 4 to 5 square meter will be required for each kilowatt of solar panels.

7. Are the solar panels shock-proof ?
Since Panel is sealed, it is shock proof. For wirings, It is highly recommended to practice safety against electrical hazards, however DC current in small applications such as solar lanterns are not hazardous.

8. Can solar photovoltaic be used for hot water?
Solar thermal are more economical and efficient way for hot water.

9. Are the solar products expensive?
Though the principle investment in solar products is high, savings are derived from negligible running cost in long run as compared to electricity from state board. Long life of solar panels also ensures there are no recurring expenses.

10. Are the solar products viable when compared to conventional powered products?
In case of buying a conventional product, we pay for the product one time and pay for its power consumption all it's life. But where as the price of a solar product includes the price of power-generation where the power is free. Hence the solar powered products are viable in a long-term perspective.

12. Is subsidy available on solar products?
Due to increasing support from World Bank, the subsidies have been replaced by soft loans where the end-users can avail low-interest loans from govt. However the soft loans are applicable only for large-size-requirements.

13. Can AC's or Geysers work with solar power?
Solar technology can power anything including AC's and Geysers. In case of AC's the initial high cost involved is an issue of consideration for a buyer because of its high voltage requirment. For geysers solar thermal is a more viable option than a solar photo voltic option.
